Low Hydrogen Electrodes

Why low hydrogen electrodes are used?

What are the low hydrogen electrodes?

Welding is a process in which two metallic materials are joined together, usually in a permanent connection.

Low-hydrogen welding rod is a kind of welding rod that has low hydrogen content. This makes them more stable, less likely to cause oxidation, and more resistant to cracking, stretching and embrittlement.

Low hydrogen rods also have a low thermal expansion rate, meaning they expand and contract less when exposed to hot or cold temperatures.

How to store the low hydrogen electrodes?

The way to store low-hydrogen welding rod is to minimize the amount of moisture and oxygen contacting alloy during storage, which can make it better to carry out welding. Low-hydrogen welding rod is suitable for welding low-alloy steel; its welding performance is superior to that of ordinary welding rods.

What are the applications of low hydrogen electrodes?

Low-hydrogen welding rod is mainly used in large structures of pressure vessels, ships, boilers, bridges, containers and so on.

AWS E7018 is a common used low-hydrogen welding rod, with good low temperature toughness, small heat affected zone, low hydrogen content and other advantages.

The vertical welding of low-hydrogen welding rod can be used to process larger thickness and is suitable for high-altitude operations.
